Tasik Sarubing Recreational Park, 16 July 2026.   The Gurkha Security Unit (GSU) is reinforcing its commitment to community engagement by undertaking the refurbishment of Tasek Sarubing Recreational Park in Kampung Subok, Brunei-Muara District. The park, which serves as a popular recreational area for local residents, had deteriorated over time due to prolonged exposure to the elements and limited maintenance.

The initiative was spearheaded by the Commandant GSU, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Habil Bin Haji Adol, PJK, pse (j), as part of the Unit’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities through meaningful community service. Lieutenant Ramkumar Rai, Officer Commanding C Company, was appointed as the Project Officer to coordinate with local authorities and community representatives. Following discussions and approval from the Village Head of Kampung Subok, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Daud Bin Jihan, refurbishment works officially commenced on 1 June 2026. The project includes clearing overgrown vegetation and fallen trees, restoring the concrete walking trail, repairing damaged wooden bridges, refurbishing huts and picnic facilities, and carrying out continuous maintenance to enhance the park’s safety, cleanliness and accessibility.

Scheduled for completion in September 2026, the refurbishment project will provide residents of Kampung Subok and visitors with a safer, cleaner and more welcoming recreational environment. The initiative reflects the GSU’s dedication to strengthening partnerships with the local community while contributing to the preservation and enhancement of public facilities for the benefit of all.
