GRU PORTAL ON MINDEF WEBSITE
Sungai Akar Camp, Monday 01 July 2024:
With kind approvals from Higher
Authority in conjunction with GRU 50th Anniversary, GRU succeeded to
create and launch GRU portal on MINDEF Website. This platform will serve as a means to
disseminate specific information and news related to all kind of GRU’s
activities.
GURKHA RESERVE UNIT’S PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL RUNNING EVENTS
With kind approval from Commandant GRU, many local marathons organised by local civilians and Army, were participated by GRU members led and coordinated by Captain Kamal Prasad Rana, SO3 G1. The aim of the running, is to inspire and encourage GRU personnel and families to stay fit and healthy as well as to make fun. This is also to maintain our public relations with local communities and support various Governmental and Civilian organisations who organised such worthy events including many nights runs locally, bringing people together.
CHAMPION UNIT PRIZE PRESENTATION FOR THE YEAR 2023/24
Sungai Akar Camp, on 29 Mar 2024 – As in the previous years, the Gurkha Reserve Unit conducted Inter-Unit Championship competitions consist of various military and sporting events. This Championship competed between three Units, Guard Unit representing two teams (Guard team A & B), Support Unit and K-9 Unit teams and events ran over the year. The main objective of this competitions were to strengthen vital aspect of military and security training, culture, discipline and to foster Unit cohesion & team spirit within the organization. Furthermore, to inspire for physical and mental wellbeing and maintain healthy lifestyle.
GURKHA RESERVE UNIT COMMANDANT HANDING/TAKING OVER CEREMONY
On Friday 01 March 2024 in Sungai Akar Camp, Gurkha Reserve Unit Commandant Yang Mulia Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Suradzin Bin Haji Muhammad Yusof PSB, psc (j) handed over his command of the Commandant Gurkha Reserve Unit’s duties to Yang Mulia Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Habil bin Haji Adol PJK, psc (j).
COMMANDANT INTRODUCTORY VISITS TO GUARD LOCATIONS
01 March 2024 – the Commandant of the Gurkha Reserve Unit (GRU), Lt Colonel (U) Haji Bin Haji Adol, PJK, psc (j), assumed his duties and immediately began a rigorous schedule of Guard Location visits to understand GRU’s operations. His first visit started on 23 March 2024 where he inspected key locations gaining crucial insights into the challenges faced by his personnel.
HANDING OVER DONATION
Sungai Akar Camp, Wednesday 21 February 2024 - Agas bin Ayum the father of GRU civilian staff Kusnadi Bin Agas who passed away on 04 December 2023 at the age of 77 years received financial aid from Gurkha Reserve Unit.
