Sungai Akar Camp, Monday, 07 July 2026. A high-level delegation from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) paid an official visit to the GSU K9 Unit at Sungai Akar Camp, underscoring a shared commitment to enhancing national capabilities in narcotics detection and canine-assisted operations.
The delegation was jointly led by Yang Mulia Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office and Director of NCB, and Yang Mulia Director of the Defence Minister’s Office and Directorate of Strategic Planning.
The visit was strategically focused on assessing the scope of operational support the GSU K9 Unit could extend to the NCB, specifically in the areas of specialised dog training, kennel and training infrastructure, canine procurement, and other mission-critical operational requirements.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by the GSU Commandant, followed by a comprehensive briefing delivered by the K9 Commanding Officer. A guided tour of the kennel facilities provided the delegation with direct operational insights into the Unit’s capabilities and readiness.
This engagement served as a significant step in deepening inter-agency collaboration and exploring avenues for future cooperation, reinforcing a unified approach toward strengthening national K9 proficiency in narcotics detection and broader security operations.
