On Friday 01 March 2024 in Sungai Akar Camp, Gurkha Reserve Unit Commandant Yang Mulia Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Suradzin Bin Haji Muhammad Yusof PSB, psc (j) handed over his command of the Commandant Gurkha Reserve Unit’s duties to Yang Mulia Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Habil bin Haji Adol PJK, psc (j).
The handing/taking over ceremony and parade was held on the Parade Square in a formal ceremonial parade with 3 contingents with combined pipes and drums from GRU and 3rd Battalion the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in SA Camp. The parade was witnessed by more then 700 guests, officers and other ranks, civilians including families and children. The Deputy Commandant Major Madan Kumar Gurung officiated the parade and delivered a farewell speech in recognition of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Suradzin Bin Haji Muhammad Yusof’s significant achievements under his leadership over the last 1 year 8 months tenure as Commandant GRU.
Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Suradzin was then invited for his final farewell speech followed by signing ceremony of the Handover and Takeover certificate. Prior to his final departure from SA Camp, the outgoing Commandant proceeded to inspect the Guard of Honor at the Guard House of SA Camp. On behalf of Deputy Commandant, all Officers, Other Ranks, Civilian staff and families of Gurkha Reserve Unit wished outgoing commandant and his family for his best future ahead and new Commandant and his family for a successful tenure.
