Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien, Wednesday, 29 July 2026. Members of the Gurkha Security Unit (GSU), led by the Commandant, together with children dressed in traditional attire, proudly participated in the Brunei-Muara District celebration marking His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah’s 80th Birthday.
During the celebration, the traditionally dressed children had the distinguished honour of presenting the GSU Regimental Garland to His Majesty, who was accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen. Following the presentation, all GSU personnel were granted the rare privilege of personally extending their birthday greetings to His Majesty and the Royal Family. This marked a historic milestone, as it was the first time in the Gurkha Security Unit’s history that all members were given the opportunity to meet and convey their best wishes to His Majesty on such a significant national occasion.
The occasion was a moment of immense pride and honour for the entire Unit, reflecting the close relationship, loyalty, and enduring trust shared between the Gurkha Security Unit and the Brunei Government. It will remain a memorable milestone in the history of the GSU.
