Major Min Bahadur Limbu, The Commanding Officer, K-9 Unit, GSU

Major Min Bahadur Limbu is a former British Army veteran who brings wealth of leadership, operational, and administrative expertise to the Gurkha Security Unit. He joined the GSU on 22 January 2013 and has since progressed steadily through a number of key command and staff appointments.

Soon after joining the GSU, Major Min was posted to Delta Company in the Guard Unit as Company Second-in-Command. Following a brief spell, he was transferred to Headquarters GSU as Records Officer, a role that carried the dual responsibility of Officer-in-Charge of the Clerk’s Department.

In 2016, he transitioned from Records Officer to Staff Officer Grade 3 (SO3) G1 (Admin and Welfare) cum Adjutant at HQ GSU. In this capacity, he assisted the HQ GSU with administrative and welfare matters while working closely under the direction of the Commandant and Deputy Commandant of the GSU on a wide range of daily tasks.

By 2018, Major Min had assumed the role of Officer Commanding of the Communications Department cum SO3 Communications. After three successful years in communications leadership, he was brought back to HQ GSU as SO2 G2/G3, Operations and Intelligence Officer.

In recognition of his outstanding performance, Major Min was rewarded with the appointment of Commanding Officer of the K-9 Unit in January 2025, a position he continues to hold with extreme pride and distinction.

Outside of his professional duties, Major Min carries with him a passion from his former life as a veteran aikido instructor, still stepping onto the mat to practice whenever he can. An avid reader across all subjects, he also enjoys a spirited game of squash and a relaxed round of social golf. He also fancies himself a bit of a coffee connoisseur; only jokingly, of course!
