Major Krishna Bahadur Gurung, The Deputy Commandant, GSU

Major Krishna Bahadur Gurung was enlisted in the Brigade of Gurkhas in January 1985 in Hong Kong. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in July 2001 and retired from the Brigade of Gurkhas (Queens Gurkha Engineers) with the rank of Captain in July 2010. He joined in the Gurkha Security Unit (GSU) on 22 January 2013 as a Lieutenant. During his military service in the Brigade of Gurkhas, he was deployed in various operations, including Bosnia, Iraq and Kosovo.
Since joining the Gurkha Security Unit, Major Krishna Bahadur Gurung has held several key appointments. Initially, he was posted to Guard Unit, A Company as a Second-in-Command on 23 January 2013. Subsequently, he was posted to Support Unit, Transport Department, again serving as Second-in-Command on 21 June 2013. He was promoted to the rank of Captain and assumed the appointment of Officer Commanding (OC) Transport Department on 25 May 2015.
On 16 October 2015, he was posted as GSU Quartermaster/Civilian Labour Officer (QM/CLO). After serving an extended tenure as Quartermaster, he was later posted to Headquarter Support Unit as Second-in-Command (2IC) Support Unit on 17 January 2020. During his tenure as 2IC Support Unit, he was also appointed as OIC COVID and Acting Commanding Officer (CO) Support Unit.
He was subsequently posted to Headquarter (HQ GSU) as SO2 G1 on 08 February 2021. Upon completion of tenure as SO2 G1, he was posted to Guard Unit as Commanding Officer (CO) on 09 November 2024 and later assumed the appointment of Deputy Commandant, GSU on 31 January 2025.
Major Krishna Bahadur Gurung has been awarded the GSU Service Medal, Long Service & Good Conduct Medal and Golden Jubilee Medal. He is an all-round sportsman and keen on golf. He is married to Indra Kumari Gurung and is blessed with two Sons and one daughter.
